So I am going to be rebuilding my motor over the winter, and decieded while i had the motor out, i wanted to replace the front axle housing for a straight axle and a steel differential. I have the oppertunity to pick up an 99 Grand Cherokee dana 30 this weekend. I know it has the larger calipers than the stock TJ axle. And it would be nice to have the hydroassist steering , a trussed axle, and other goodies that come with a straight axle. IS the Grand Cherokee a good choice or is there another axle i should look at? I dont plan to go larger than 35's (eventually) and this is going mainly for overlanding with some mild obsticles you can find here in Wisconsin. Thanks
