So i thought my upper ball joint was going bad but I cant find play in it. So i checked the rest and i cant find play in any of them. I look at the control arms and they are fine that i can tell. i can find anything thats loose. i hear the clunk on the drivers side over any crack or bump. Any help on what this could be or anything im missing

Check the sway bar end links. I torque mine to 100 ft lbs. Actually, its best to go over everything with a torque wrench.

have you checked the strut mount bushing?
not the 4 studs that holds the plate to the Jeep but the center rubber bushing that
holds the strut to the plate
make sure that the metal dome is still there and then check the rubber
I have seen the metal dome fail and destroy the mount and bushing

If testing the upper control arm bushings, no, you should be able to grab one side, and push up, or down, then the other, and see the thing twist if the bushings are bad. This was how I found them on my Avenger, and my Ford Aerostar. I could not feel or see the play with the tires planted, I had to jack 'em up to check...

So ive oulled it all apart many times and i cant find the problem. Now it is starting to clunk on hard fast turns. Im thinking it could be the cv axel. So im going to pull it apart again tonight, what should i look for or do? does the axel just pull out or is there some kind of retaining cilp
