Does anyone have any pictures of the cowls on a KJ. I need to see what they look like opened up and what they look like inside. How big are they and are they sealed off?

Any info would be helpful.

Thanks guys. I guess I need to open mine up and see if my plans will work out. I was hoping the cowl setup was almost identical to the XJs.

Well, I was going to rework my air intake system. Not a snorkel, but a CAI. Google "Eric's XJ" and check out his setup. I was hoping our cowls were the same or closer to the XJ ones, but after freezing my fingers off for the last bit out in the snow, I see that they are different and it would be a pain and probably not worth it to modify my intake in a similar way Eric did his. I need to go back to the drawing board I guess. :(

That is a cool idea he has there, but i think the coolant overflow would be in the way..

Straight up and out of the hood? That would be some serious (bling) going on if you do...

Curious - how easily is the plastic cowl cover removed? Are the pins holding it on similar to the door panels (meaning, they usually break during removal and need to be R&R)?

I broke all mine when removing. :D

I may have been a bit rough though. I keep a bag of christmas tree push pins for just such occasions, so it wasn't an issue that all mine popped.

Other than those pins, you remove the wipers and that is it. Very, very easy.

Took a good 5min to get mine off. You simply pull the center out of the clips then the clips will easily slide out. Once the wipers are off you can simply pick the cowl up. Nothing to break and no, those clips are nothing like whats holding the door panels on.
