That's a 2-din unit. Chrysler is currently using a 1.5-din unit. The 2-din will fit, but you'll have to modify the fascia around it.

Pioneer makes the AVIC-Z1, which has a 30gb hard drive. You can always remotely locate a carputer.

AVIC-Z1 is double din as well.. and costs over 1500! :(
There are a few that you can use USB drive OR Flash Memory, but I would still rateher USB connection and HDD on unit. that would be awesome.

I don't understand, while the hard drives are so cheap, they can slap a tiny interface on it to read MP3 and WMA's and hook it up a display, that can cost like $150 to them, and they can sell it for $250 to retailers, and could go out for $300 for a very good one..
but no, they have to always make it complicated and expensive!!!

Why would you want soemthign like that?

My ipod is a 30 gig and i can use it in and out of my car.

That much space in the vehicle would just be a nuissance. (Unless it was wifi compatible and could be accessed from your PC in the house)

Well, I'll let you know how it is when we get our Nitro. I had my wife see it, and she absolutely loved it. So we're ordering an orange one with the mygig system (they just had a regular cd player on the one we test drove) and will hopefully have it within a couple months. But I'm still keeping my KJ, as we're trading in her ion.

I think that the MyGig is a cool idea and I would get it if it were affordable. However, my next vehicle will be the Wrangler Unlimited, not another Liberty (although I do love this thing).

you are lucky, mygig comes with wrangler.. you might get option for mygig, and go for it.

miah, i don't have ipod and I don't want to pay extra for ipod interface then get ipod, it is pointless. ipod+interface=rip-off. mygig or HU w/hdd good deal.
you can get wifi mounted on them, OR rip your CDs directly into HU or load up DVD with mp3s (for that you don't need hdd, so that might work well as well), remember the JVC hu for $500 that plays DVD Mp3 discs.. sweeeeeet.

I have not and will not ever buy an ipod interface, they are a waste of money and always poor quality.

My Ipod cost me $200 and has lasted over a year now.
Anyone who wants good quality music and still uses a factory HU is F'ed up in the head anyway. And anyone with an aftermarket headunit can plug the ipod straight in without any additional garbage.

believe it or not, I am getting pretty good sound out of my premium infinity speakers. If anyone buys my RBQ, then I will consider buying something crazy, then I have to change the stock speakers, as you can see it is a whole lot of production. Of course, unless if you are rich. 8-[

The speakers are good but the stock HUs are terrible. Any radio that has an EQ consisting only of "Bass" and "Treble", does not even qualify as decent quality.

A $200 aftermarket HU would provide significantly higher quality.

They absolutely can handle it. (When properly crossed over that is.) Also, the premium system does not recieve the power from the HU, the speakers are powered by the in door amplifiers.

good info, thanks.

I read somewhere Zune might have FM transmitter.. I might end up getting one, 30 gb, $250.. not bad. only if it will really have fm transmitter.

about the ghetto fitting hu, i am scared sh*tless that crutchfield's "fitting material" will look ugly, but all the pix i saw on cardomain with KJs aftermarket hu, they look OK, except for the one who stuffed sponge around it, that was hideous.

You've seen pictures of mine right?

You must be registered for see images attach

The only way to screw up a HU install is to buy an install kit for another vehicle

I remember the aftermarket days:

Sony Cd player- stolen

Alpine 7807- face stolen, had to get another face

1 year later- face and deck stolen

I'll just stick with my rb1, as people usually don't try to steal a "stock" radio

I have mopar's ipod integration kit, and it works great, sounds great, and goes well with the rb1

theft normally happens overnight, when parked on the street.
So unless I can take the face off, I am not planning to purchase any HU because I park on the street..
