The Gross Vehicle Weight Rating is the maximum weight, which includes the total amount of cargo+ people+ gas weight that the vehicle can carry on top of its own weight. Although still a bit porcine, I believe the average KJ is somewhere around 4,200#. Does someone else know for sure?

Weight

I had to take a few things to the landfill one day. To determine how much you dump, they weigh you when you go in, and when you come out. Empty, my 2004 RME 4x4 w/ auto. transmission and Tracloc and a full tank of gas. Came in at 4220 pounds. I've added running boards, slush mats, a cargo liner, seat covers and vent visors. So 4200 pounds is pretty accurate, assumeing the scales are.

Those are max ratings I believe.. being a solid axle you can put a lot more weight on it than being IFS... That's also why you can tow heavier stuff, if they would have put an IRS suspesnsion , the tow rating would considerably drop.

The diesel KJ is actually about 200lbs heavier than the gas v6 KJ.
