I'm replacing my muffler and tail pipe this weekend and bought the muffler, tail pipe, connector pipe and clamps in one package. I was just thinking and checked the product description of what I ordered, it has a note saying that no front gasket is required,it would be where the connector pipe meets the opposite pipe coming from the catalytic end of the system. Anyone know if this is true, no gasket required?

The 02 uses a thick donut gasket on the y pipes. The part sellers wants to sell you a thinner donut gasket. Both took some time with a hammer and chisel to remove
The spring bolt hardware combo did not compress the new y pipe connections enough and. Had to buy stainless bolts and washers to seal it up. Cheaper too once I returned the OEM hardware kit

Walker spring bolt kit - 35129
Walker gasket donut - 31533 too small for the 02. Maybe later years used this

What I needed instead was felpro 61289
