I have always drove and downshifted without worrying about rev matching or double clutching or anything of that without issue. When I come to a stop I leave the clutch depressed with the transmission in first gear. I think the wear you are worried about it in your head lol. Plus wouldn't it make sense that letting off the clutch and putting the transmission in neutral only to depress again and put into gear would double the wear than driving it normally? I had the transmission rebuilt at 250K Km's and the clutch & TOB was wearing normally and still have life left in it but was replaced when everything was rebuilt simply because it was the logical thing to do. The way I drove the Jeep the clutch should have been toast from wheeling haha. I have even done some powershifting just to try it.
