Looking @ Rusty's front struts before install and .....?

The threads(on both struts) are slightly smashed not allowing the nut to pass that point. Will the nut re-thread it when torqued down?

Run a Die down them to clean up the threads.

And if I don't have an expensive die set to use?

Use a nut that is the same thread size and run it up n down a few times. Use a little oil to lubricate it.

I think You can pick up a cheap set for around 40 bucks or so from Sears. I am pretty sure you can buy the individual die from them as well.

If you spend the money on a decent tap n die set. It will pay for itself sooner or later

Mine was like that on my ranchos, nothing is wrong with it. Don't know why its like that, but don't rethread it.

Since it's just a few threads you could use a small file to clean the edges up a bit.

I chased the threads with a 10mmx1.5 die that I borrowed from someone...worked like a jem....
