Ive got an 03 jeep kj renegade and it wont start. After turning the key to the ignition portion the engine turns over and fires and runs a bit, but then immediately after turning the key to back to the off position it stalls. There seems to be plenty of power, all lights come on bright including the light bar, it cranks etc. it seems that its not getting proper ignition or something related to that. Also when the key is turned the engine never fully starts to normal running, it just almost "half starts", so to speak, its hard to explain but it sounds like it wants to go but wont. I recently replaced the TPS sensor which afterwords was driving fine. I also think that one of the sensors is damaged or something electrical related may be causing it. Recently I went wheeling with it and drove through a deep puddle damaging the TPS sensor, which leads me to believe I probably damaged something else.

Any info would be appreciated. I was going to start by pulling some codes. I really don't want to get it towed and have it professionally looked at. Its in a safe location anyway. That will be my last resort. thanks. I know theres a million different things that could be causing this, but I'm going to so my best to narrow it down with out going out and spending hundreds of dollars in parts because of a hunch. Ill give it a few days of me trying to fix it and get it started, if not its getting towed and ill probably go back and buy another XJ because I friggin miss mine!!

Trans shifter cable not correctly adjusted,"PRND" switch bad(can be known as the nutral safety switch),shifter itself bad,or junk built up in the shifter area preventing the shifter to go all the way into park.

Try placing shifter into "P",and then slam it forward with your hand and try to start.
