My 2002 Liberty will not stay running. I can start it with the aftermarket remote start and will start and stay running. If I try to start it with the key, it will start and then shut back off after about 2 sec. I have noticed that the security key light is not on when it does this. Some times it works and other times it doesn't. When the light does come on, it will start fine and be ok. what could be causing this intermittent problem. It has just started happening within the last month. I have had the aftermarket remote start on it for about 4 years.

Another is my battery keeps dying, not sure what could cause it. I don't leave anything on or plugged in to make it drain it. I can let the Jeep sit for 3 days and it will be dead. I have replaced the alternator last year and the batter checks out. Anyone have any idea's?

I think factory immobilizer acts like that, i.e. the 2s delay. Not sure whether it goes back to 2002 though.

The battery problem might be related. What's the chance your remote start screws things up? Why don't you try removing its fuse and see how things change.

Have to try that, the remote start is a Compustar, I'm gonna look on their website and see if they have some tech support as well.

Like you, I'm not sure about how far back it goes, but you are correct about the 2s delay.

For the remote start to work it would have to have some means to override the immobilizer. If something in there has gone flaky it could be intermittently locking you out. I agree with jja that this would be an excellent place to start.
