I know AllJ's boulder bars come in an extended version and I think one or two others do as well, so you get great protection and your better half can still get in the Jeep (biggrin)

Thank god my wife hasn't complained about it so far, and believe it or not she was asking me to lift my KJ. (whistle) About those rock/step combinations, I remember seeing different ones that looked like some guy welded himself, they had sharp ends, they looked great, but too much extension cannot hold much pressure in case you slip on a rock.

I think 05 stock rock bars are the best, the ones that come with 05 renegades. I don't do much offroading so I thought it is just unnecessary expense, but it sure does look good, especially if it is lifted. I was also wondering if there was any that could help me get nicks out of the way by stopping ignorant drivers who parked next to me in the lot, who just bang open their doors into my KJ.

Get your Jeep really really muddy. The kind of mud that smells when it dries. People will now do 1 of 2 things.

1.) Not park next to you because of the odor
or
2.) Try not to get any of that mud on their vehicle when getting in/out while parked next to you.

Good Luck!!
