I have a 2007 jeep liberty. last week my wife was driving home from work and it started running really rough and the check engine light came on. I checked the codes and it said catalyst in efficient. She had just got gas the day before and the pump was acting funny so we figured it was water in gas. I put some dry gas in it and drove it. It ran fine and didn't throw the code again.
Next day she drove it 20 miles to work no problems. She left work to come home made it 1/2 mile and it started running rough again, check engine light came on and it went into limp mode.
I put some more dry gas in it and it fired back up made it a few miles and then died completely. code came back up as P300 Random multiple misfires. I I trailered it home. and dropped the tank drained all gas out and put new in. still was doing it. this is everything I have done since that point
1. Change all spark plugs
2. changed 02 sensors
3. changed crank position sensor
4. Changed cam position sensor
5. checked Fuel pressure. 60 psi.
6. checked spark at each coil. All of them had it.
7. Compression test on all cyclinders--OK
I have pulled all plugs again and they are not white. but black so I am figuring it is getting fuel. Drivers side bank are black and sooty.

Jeep will start and run ok for about 2-3 minutes. once the idle drops then it throws codes and starts missing and carrying on. What else should I check. It almost seems like it is not getting air. Could this issue be caused by a plugged up Catalytic converter? any help would be appreciated as the next step is for it to go to the garage. And then get traded in.

Since nobody has replied I'll suggest the throttle position sensor or idle air control. You don't have any other codes? I'd also say that completely black plugs isn't good and that its running too rich. They should be a brown color and dry I think. Somebody else should chime in hopefully.

Before the O2 sensors warm up, the computer controls the fuel/air ratio based on preset tables, known as open loop. Once the O2 sensors heat up, it then goes to closed loop, and the fuel/air ratio is controlled by the computer based on the readings it receives from the O2 sensors. I had the same problem with my Jeep. I replaced pretty much all the same things as you did, with no results. I replaced my O2 sensors a second time with NTK and the problem went away immediately. If you did not replace your O2 sensors with NTK, I would recommend doing that before throwing anymore money into it.
