Interior Electrical Issues

So my '02 Sport seems to be possessed... (of course, not really). I have an issue with the interior lights. My overhead lights come on randomly and it seems to be tied in with the turn signal and steering wheel. As it gets warmer, I like to ride with my rear glass open and the interior lights turn on and off even if the interior light switch is turned down (off). The light on my gear shift showing P, N, R, D, 1, 2, comes on and off as well; not sure if it's related.

I have met others with this problem, but no one really knows the cause. Avoiding taking it to a shop, I'd like to fix the problem myself.

Any suggestions? Thank you.

Some of us have had to replace the multifunction stalk (the two arms that control wipers, lights, etc.) It can cause light glitches and flickers, etc.
