Just watched a youttube video about installing a crane differential cover. Doesn't look too hard. However, it made me think of a question...

If I'm installing (haven't purchased yet) a differential guard (rear), can I take the diff bolts off without removing the fluid? Will the gasket keep the cover on well enoughto put the guard on and get the screws back on, or do you have to take the diff apart to install the guard?

Thanks

I would take the cover off and put a new bead of RTV on it. Anytime Ive been taking the cover off to change the fluid it starts to leak as soon as I get most of the bolts out.

x2 on what JeepJeepster said. If the vehicle is much older, I've almost had to pry the cover off, but I wouldn't expect that with a Liberty.
