So I have installed a EVIC in my jeep. It did not come with an Evic system but I followed the instructions on here and everything is working except the tire pressure.

1 pressure is returning 32psi
2 are around 20 psi
1 is at 0

I have tried to retrain with speaker magnet and it did not chirp or actually train the tires.

I have done the test mode and the rotation stayed at 0.

If there is a way to turn off the pressure monitor I would be fine with that, but I would really like to have it stop flashing that the tires are low.

Thanks for ahead for any assistance!

Those things are a pain in the ass. Unfortunately, I didn't know that before I bought a nice EVIC PSI that wouldn't stop dinging about the tire pressure even though there were no pressure sensors installed. I think the only way it could be shut off is with the Chrysler Scan Tool, but a dealer won't touch it since you installed the EVIC and spliced in the wiring.

I will have to talk to my buddy to see if his scanner can do it ;)

Any other ideas. I am wondering why I am getting pressure at all if I don't have something installed. But I don't know how to check without taking the tire off...

So the jeep got driven longer than around the block this time and now all the tire pressures are -- 3 are blinking and one is not.

I have installed a 2004 liberty evic in my 2006. What do I need to make these work? Can I just install the sensors in the tires or is it more complicated???

Thanks

Are you sure you don't have the sensors and just don't know it?

I have no idea! I have read that the 05/06 had a different style or checking pressure... But since I have an 04 EVIC, what year sensors do I need?

If you did not install sensors for a 2004 liberty then of course its going to display --. The 2005+ liberty does use different sensors so if youre jeep already has sensors and you put 2004 sensors in then you will have a light on the dash saying youre missing sensors(which you will be missing the 2006 sensors) but the evic should be happy.

If the tires have rubber valve stems then you currently do not have sensors. If they are aluminum then you do.

Well I was thinking I could put the sensors in a pvc pipe and presurize it to see if I can get the message to go away. Would that work?

By the way, my name is Blake too ;)

ksxj....since you did not originally have an EVIC...I'm pretty certain you don't have the sensors...which is why it is displaying "--". I have the same year EVIC on my '04, and get the same messages, due to the fact that I have not yet installed the TPMS sensors in the wheels.

The only way to fix this is to get TPMS sensors from an '04, or find out if the '06 sensors work with the '04 EVIC. Honestly, if the '06 sensors are not compatible, I would get rid of your EVIC and either find one from an '06, or get one w/out TPMS, as this will cause tons of frustration for you, and any future owner, if the sensors have to come from an '04.

I have sensors from an 04 coming, but how do those work. Is there somethinging in the wheel well that picks them up or do these actually send it wirelessly to the evic somehow? Thanks

In theory putting them in pvc pipe and putting pressure on it should work just fine. Try to train them before you put them in the pipe just to make sure the jeep knows that you have sensors. Hopefully they do not need to have pressure on them to be trained.

Far as I know the evic picks it up. On the 2005+ libertys they have a pickup at each wheel well which is why you do not need to retrain them everytime you rotate the tires.

Tirerack.com has great prices for the tire sensors if you need to get any extras or anything.

So I have the tire sensors but I cannot get them to train. Do they have to be under pressure for them to be trained?
