How to clear the check engine light

I have read several post on how to read the check engine light I have that down but How do you clear it after you fix the issue and it will not go out.

it should 2 to 3 driving cycles. mine took 4. it should turn off...

I had the check engine light for a loose gas cap. After about 6 run cycles, I disconnected the battery's negative cable for 60 seconds and that did the trick for me.

I no you can usually clear it by disconnecting the negative terminal for 1-5 minutes.
