I would have to assume they were put there for a reason. Removing them would likely only invite problems for what purpose?, some additional clearance?

Then it must be one of those things that the engineers included that only made sense "on paper". Like the axle disconnect or CAD on the 95 YJ Dana30 axles.

I yanked mine. Didn't notice anything at first, but I do feel like I get a vibration at a certain range during acceleration. I may slap it back on there and see if it goes away.

had mine off for a short time, seemed to have very minor vibrations with it off, I don't like rattles, squeaks, or vibrations so put it back on.

If it is clearance you are looking for, why not remove the rear differential, since it hangs even lower..

I have always wondered how the * that dampener is suppose to work.
It may be a good idea Ryan since you are installing the lockers etc and may be castrating the KJ, I would think about getting some new spicer U-joints and have the drive shaft cleaned up and re-balanced while there at the shop.

Had mine off for several year. No issues from it yet. It may vary from vehicle to vehicle. Try it if you want. If you get a strange vibration like Tom did, put it back on... For me, it had not effect at all, so it stayed off.

Those help with vibrations and to dampen the rotational forces from accelerating removing it may cause vibes and speed up u-joint wear. Automatics would be less noticeable then a standard, I would recommend leaving them on a standard. Automatic you can give it a try.

Why not paint them pink and dress them up with a bit of fur trim?

You shouldn't of suggested that Mitch!:D

Now I'm on the lookout for an afro wig and some bright pink paint!:happy175:

And seeing that Jen drives it most of the time anyway, I wonder how long before she notices set of balls and the merkin attached!:D
