My daughter left her 2006 jeep liberty outside last night in the wind and rain and now the horn keeps going off. The only way to stop it was to disconnect the battery. Any ideas on this pain?

Is it bad to leave a Jeep out in the wind and rain?

Are you sure the alarm isnt going off? Its just the horn?

The horn is located right in front of the battery. You can unplug it so you can at least drive the Jeep. Not sure why it would be going off. Has any water ever leaked inside of the Jeep? Could be a clock spring in the steering wheel.

Is the horn on solid or on and off?

Yes, this exact problem was reported on Cartalk a few years ago. A person who lived in an area that got particularly cold would always know if they'd accidentally left the garage door open, because around 2am, their horn would go off and the only way to make it stop was to disconnect the battery.

The problem turned out to be a horn switch where in the manufacturing process the contacts were particularly 'close'. As the temperature drops, the contacts in the switch would warp ever so slightly (as most metals do in temperature changes) and this would cause the contacts to touch and the horn to go off. Solution was to replace the horn switch in the steering wheel or dismantle it and bend those two little contacts (if possible) further apart.
