I think it would have looked better if it was in front of the bumper rather than cut out, and made it removable, made like a dual hitch receiver that you slide into both of them and put in pins, etc..

Nice idea. This is the first kit.

That made the Jeep too long for downtown parking. And it was not strong enough. But at least I tryed...

The new kit is realy steady, does not move or twist at all.

I like the original, a lot cleaner looking. It can't add more than 5 or 6 inches? Must be darn short parking spaces.

I' ve been curious about just this kind of project. What made the first one 'not strong enough'? Can you give some more detail? I want a winch, but I'm just not really willing to buy the whole ARB front bumper (don't get me wrong, I love them) but I'd rather most of my money go towards the winch.

I am in the boat, I'd love a winch, but don't want an ARB.

What's the snorkel for?

You guy's could always get a Detours Backbone!

The snorkel, just for fun. The sheapest snorkel on a Jeep... :D

The whinch started to bend the construction under the framework. The orange colored part in the picture.

And then the Jeep frame would follow in the twist. It is not the strongest material in the front of a KJ, impact deformation zone.

Next summer I will go on a trip called Jeep Adventure Scandinavia, where one station is at Kolmården whith a steep cliff to go up. There it is nessesery whith a strong and reliable whinch construction. Uphill in 45 degrees, don´t want the whinch to come loose there...

But most of all, I want to know if I can make things better, not only different.

Well, keep at it!
So far from what you have shown here look pretty impressive!

Based on that underside picture, I would tend to question the size of the bolts that connect that orange angle iron piece to the frame. It seems the way you have it, a lot of stress occurs back there, and not on the larger cross member that runs across the vehicle.

I'm real interested in the work you're doing here because I'd like to see if I can get some ideas or come up with something for myself.
