I've actually done it twice it was so much fun. My first route 66 trip is what convinced me to move to California for a few years, and I can not wait to get back there!

First time I did the trip in my 07 KJ Limited. Drove from NJ to Chicago, then all the way down to Texas and then across to Needles, Ca and finally the boardwalk in Santa Monica.

You will absolutely need an SUV/Truck to complete some sections of Route 66 as it is not maintained everywhere. Occasionally you will need to hop on to I40.

I've done approx. 80-85% of Route 66 at various times, never all at once, its on the bucket list though to do it all ( well all you can do )

I have done all of the National Road from Cumberland, Maryland to Vandalia, Illinois, first road built by the National government , lots to see much like 66. Did it and US 40 from Colorado, through Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and New Jersey.
Both of those done on the Harley.
Took 5 months off at one point ( when I was 33 ) and just traveled .
One Harley, 3 changes of clothes and 4 women................:happy175:
Everyone should get out and travel , explore

Also on the bucket list is US 1 from Fort Kent, Maine to Key West, Florida, with 3 weeks rest time in the Keys at the end:gr_grin::gr_grin:

This looks awesome! Can't wait until I have time to watch the whole thing.
