Hey I’m new and I need HELP!!!!

Hi, I am new here. I have an 02 Jeep Liberty Limited 3.7. I have had her for about 3 years now. Those year has been crazy. It’s like I’m always fixing something. But I enjoy it.

Look I came here looking for help. I hooked up a trailer for the first time this weekend. I was driving it in 4 wheel but I decided to try 2 wheel and started to hear thumbing. Now trailer is gone and I 2 wheel I still hear thumbing but when I put in 4 wheel drive there is no problem. Just eating up my gas. HELP!!!

I think you are trying to say rumbling..
Do you have an automatic transmission?
Which transfer case shifter do you have?
Is the rumbling sound coming more from the rear?

Thanks, it’s an automatic. Also when I have in 2wd the light for part time comes on. That’s been happening fora while now. I am think it’s was from the front.

This is weird. After about 20 minutes of driving in four-wheel-drive. At a red light I put it into 2 Wheel Dr. and there’s no rumbling. It actually sounds great. Does that mean anything.

You may have front drive shaft issues if you return to 2WD and rumblings gone.
Sounds like the transfer case position sensor needs replacement.

I'd also want to inspect the transfer case Shifter bushing under jeep to ensure it is not damaged/working properly.

You have the SelecTrac- Full Time transfer case. Do you have the owners manual?
Are you completely familiar with the transfer case shifting procedures and warnings?
Please take the time to read the SelecTrac pages & operating procedures from owners manual.

Do you have A trac-Lok rear differential? Go here to get your build sheet and see if you have a A trac Loc. https://fcacommunity.force.com/RAM/s/equipment-listing
If so it needs a 4oz bottle of Mopar Friction modifier then.

Hey, thanks for your help. From what u said and further research ( youtube) I figured out that the front driveshaft is the problem. I am having a hard time figuring out what driveshaft to buy to put in. Ether 16.5 or 19.

I am not worried about the sensor at the moment. I change that when it gets warmer out.

I didn't see any Trac-Loc on the Build Sheet and thanks for that it's a great resource.

Calling the dealer with your VIN number will confirm correct part number & specs & go from there.

No need for a new driveshaft
There are rebuild kits for it and cheap

The sensor is no big deal
I know people who have driven with it on and off for years
