OK -

This issue started about a 3-4 days ago.

I had just started my 2002 Jeep Liberty and was driving about 1 min when I spelled burning wires like from an electrical short. But no smoke was visible anywhere. I immediately noticed that the Radio, Wipers, Info Consol on ceiling and Speedometer were not working. Also Check Engine light is on.

I suspected a fuse was blown or a wire short somewhere.

All the fuses are fine.

The Jeep sat over weekend with out having a chance to get to looking at anything more. Now on Monday and again today this problem has occurred: When slowing nearly to a stop (2mph or so) and idle and engine cuts off without warning. Also then a ding and the oil lamp comes on. Put in Park, Turn off ignition then crank it up - it starts right back up - sometimes stalling again, sometimes working fine until i slow back down.

What in the world could this be.

In doing some research online - I've seen some of these problems when the Multi-Function Switch goes bad and also the (BCM)Body Control Module.

I've called 3 service shops and the predominant answer is: "WOW -Never heard of that - Bring it in and we'll look at it and see."

Can anyone help or have any ideas?

PS- Going to code it tonight to see if this brings up any answers.

The only thing I could think to do is check any visible wires for chaffing, and make sure the battery cables are ok. Then again, if something was shorting, the battery would be dead from sitting, so it has to be something that is on with the ACC, such as the radio, turn signal, wipers, etc. Not sure what would be causing the engine stalling though.

That does not sound very good.
Definitely knowing what the codes are would be a big hint to problems.
Please post back results of scan.

I have had many wiring problems with my 2002 CRD.....can be time consuming to track these type of faults down and it helps if you have some electrical knowledge.:disgust:
