Hi everybody :)

I was installing a couple of Sylvania Silverstar H4 (only for Export models) and I've found that the left lamp boot is missing :( (darn stealership)

The result was the lamp get dirt inside... it has dust and a few stains of dried drops...

So the question is how disassemble it... I took off the grille, unplug the lamps and change the bulbs... but I can't go further... the lamp it's kind a sealed with a thing like chewing gum... so I can't get the lamp cleaned...

Somebody has fully disarmed a KJ lamp before?

Thanks in advance for any help :)

As I understand your question, the bulb pulls out of the headlight assembly, but the interior glass/plastic casing can't be disassembled?

I'm guessing you got the headlamp out of the vehicle?

According to the manual, after removing the grille, unscrew the two mounting screws on the headlamp, release the locating tab on the outer side of the housing. The the headlight will pull out from the body to disconnect the wiring. It doesn't really say anything about accessing the 'interior' of the housing. Here's my assumption:

If you can get it disconnected from the car, take the actual bulb out, take the thing inside, fill it with soap/water, swirl it around, maybe get a small 'bottle' brush inside, clean it as best you can, rinse out and let dry.

Let me know if I'm on track. I'd go out and try this myself, but it's raining cats and dogs-- so... I'm going to leave it to imagination from here.

That's right

I rode the same thing... nothing about the interior in the manual... neither here nor L.O.S.T.

Thanks anyway :)

That's the way I'd do it too. I'd like to suggest that you do a final rinse of the interior with rubbing alcohol. It will evaporate quickly with minimal trace.

Almost.

Since you didn't mention "unscrew the two mounting screws on the headlamp, release the locating tab on the outer side of the housing." I thought that maybe you were missing that part.

But, no matter anyway. Besides, your english seems pretty good to me, so no worries there.

I'm seriously thinking my suggestion may be the only way to do it.
