What are you fellow Jeepers getting on gas mileage? I have a '07 Jeep Patriot Limited and I'm interested in a '08 Liberty Limited but was wondering what "real number" gas mileage you were getting?

gas mileage on my 08 KK 4x4 Limited

Since i've past 2000 miles i have noticed better mileage. I get a solid 22mpg on the road and 17mpg in town. I love my new Jeep.

My numbers so far (08 Liberty Sport with Firestone Destination A/T all-terrain tires, 4spd auto):

dist. mpg
0449 14.8
0798 19.4
1121 18.7
1336 17.3
1503 20.5
1789 23.8
2080 20.2
2363 17.8
2702 19.7
3033 20.2
3176 17.9

For most parts, it is longer highway trips combined with rather short shopping trips (2-3 miles) in the town (engine barely worms up). Between 1503 and 3033 is trip to from Portland, OR to Redwood City, CA and back. Nice 23.8 mpg is when we started at 4150 feet in Klamath Falls and ended up in 300 feet in Red Bluff.

I've only ran 1 full tank thru it so far to do a calculation, 500 miles on it. 19mpg and that was some highway, some city, and some low-range mudding.

I'd imagine getting over 20mpg once it breaks in a bit, and I go a full tank with out messing around off road.

BTW, mine is a 6-speed.

Another batch, this time from road trip to Utah:

Dist. MPG
3460 ... 284 ... 17.29
3858 ... 398 ... 22.01 ... Hillsboro - Ontario
4203 ... 345 ... 19.75 ... Ontario - Brigham City
4444 ... 241 ... 24.92 ... Brigham City - Green River
4616 ... 172 ... 15.63 ... Green River - Moab (off road)
4855 ... 239 ... 14.29 ... Moab - Moab (White Rim Road)
4929 ..... 74 ... 20.34 ... Moab - Moab (Potash Road, Shaffer Trail)
5142 ... 213 ... 15.68 ... Moab - Monticello (Needles, Lavender Canyon)
5556 ... 414 ... 24.11 ... Monticello - Brigham City
5896 ... 340 ... 21.48 ... Brigham City - Fruitland
6268 ... 372 ... 21.29 ... Fruitland - Portland

I could not believe my eyes when I calculated the consumption driving from Brigham City to Green River, we went well over 65 mph starting at some 4200ft, climbing all the way up to 7200 and descending back to 4100ft. I got similar MPG when driving back (Monticello - Brigham City) and it involved some 30 miles of easy dirt road, the fuel warning started a bit over 400 miles and when I actually stop at the gas station, it was 17.2 gallons to fill up so there were at least two gallons left. Driving around Moab involved quite a bit of dirt roads in 4wd with occasional 4wd low as well. All this with two bikes on hitch receiver mounted bike rack.

I believe that Utah gas must have higher energy content (no ethanol added?) because best I could do outside of it was 22 mpg, it is also possible that reduced air resistence in higher elevation played some role.

I must say that I was very pleased. perfect10.gif

That's the only thing I miss after trading my XK for a KK.

TomasX - I sure like the looks of those 20+ figures. As you can see above, my best has been 19.4.

As to high altitude - I know that they even sell lower octane at altitude because of the lower compression in the cylinders (less chance of spark knock). I would think the better mileage is from less drag????

Maybe we will all get better mileage as the engines break in????????

I have about 3100 miles on my KK.

So far, my best tank mileage avg. has been 17.2 mpg. My worst was 14 in cold winter snow running in the teens. I don't do jack rabbit starts and drive conservatively. My driving is about 60/40 city/highway.
