I have a 2006 Jeep Liberty with 120,000 miles. Recently, my gas gauge starting moving back and forth and my check engine light went on.

While idling the gas gauge moved from over a quarter of a tank to empty triggering the gas light to turn on. I filled up the tank and determined it only needed 15 gallons (19 gallon tank). The gas gauge returned to full and within a day the check engine light went off.

This morning hubby took the car to a repair shop and a CODE U1411 was diagnosed. The shop took the car for a test drive and no code was detected at all!

Has anyone experienced this before? Is it fixable??

Basically u1411 is not going to be fun. Keep it full for now and see if it comes back.
It is an electrical or wiring problem that can be related anywhere from cluster to PCM or even a problem in the bus.
You can try to google:
" Implausible Fuel Volume Signal Received u1411"
I am not sure if your fuel sender could cause this code.
Is there anything else wonky besides the fuel gauge?
