I have a 2006 Jeep Liberty. A couple of days ago is started making a dinging sound and in the odometer area a visual display says GAS CAP!!

I checked the gascap and filled the tank thinking there may have been air in the line. But that did not stop the audible sound (ding) or the visual indicator message to periodically appear on the odometer.

WHAT'S UP??

Thank you!!

Sometimes, over time, the cap will cease to seal properly. I might try cleaning the seal on the cap first... and if that doesn't work, buy a new cap.

Word to the wise though... although it's less expensive, caps from the auto parts stores often don't seal right. I've tried going that route before and have read where other people have done the same. Best bet is to get one from your dealer or a Mopar-specific parts shop online.
