I am hoping I misunderstood. The plug is in front diff?? Please do not use ATF in it. Try gear lube,please.

Yes i hope so. I'm talking about fluid in the xfercase. Front and rear dif. both got Gear lube...

Check the pic at the front of this thread. I'm calling that a "check fill' plug. I guess it could be a nut or something. What is it called?

Though the rear dif. does have a real rubber "plug". the front had a 3/8th "plug-bolt" in it.

Does that make any sense?

Honestly, as this was the “check fill” plug I really didn’t expect it to flow out.

It shouldn't have. I'll bet someone drained first and then when they couldn't get the fill plug off they found another way to fill it... overfill it actually.

I got my replacement plugs from here:
