I almost hit submit and purchased the wheel hubs, but I just want to make 110% sure it's the problem.

I figured I'd yank the front driveshaft just in case and make sure the noise remains.

I am having a helluva time getting it off the diff. It came off of the transfer case with a little persuading. I'm being gentle, just tapping and whatnot to get it loose. Don't want to go messing up the front diff.

The thing that has me concerned is when I pulled the bolts for the diff, there was gear oil on the bolts. Also, now that I am trying to work the driveshaft out of the front diff, I have a very slow drip of gear oil.

Shouldn't the driveshaft come off without any gear oil coming out of the diff? :(

Weird...I finally got it out, but in the diff side there was a little gear oil. Is that normal?

By the way, noise is still present, wasn't driveshaft.

When I pulled mine, it had gear oil on it also. If you're looking for conformation on the hubs, while you've got the front end up in the air try spinning the wheels, you should be able to locate the sounds while you are under the Jeep spinning the wheels.

Good to know on the oil.

I've spun the hubs and I don't hear anything out of the ordinary - some noise from the brakes dragging, but that's it. No play either.

I've ordered the hubs from rockauto and hope this solves the problem.

Rockauto's are Timkin - I thought the OEM was Timkin as well?

If they are better, so be it :)
