Im a yj owner myself but im helping my sister with her 07 liberty. She said it was leaking oil so i got up under it and saw oil blown all the way back to the trans pan and traced it up to the front of the engine. How easy is it to replace the seal without taking the whole front end apart? Any help is appreciated.

The crank seal is easy to replace but you do need the special damper puller tool.Buy the seal at the dealership only,it's like $10.

You sure it's the crank seal and not the oil pressure sensor? When I disassembled the front of mine my crank seal was leaking slightly but the old drippings from the oil sensor was still evident and nearby.

Im not sure it's the crank seal because i couldn't see down in there. I don't know a whole lot about her engine so i just figured there was nothing else nearby that would leak. You say there's a sensor nearby so i'll get a mirror or somthing and figure out exactly where it is and let you know.

I think the Otc puller has a longer bolt, my craftsman puller was not long enough to pull the balancer, the bolt was too short, but the motor was already out so I could easily get to it to pull it.
My seal was leaking by only just. Not sure it's the gusher of oil it was for the 4.0. All in all the 3.7 is a clean little motor. Well compared to my 4.0s and 7m Toyota
Oh you might check the valve cover gaskets.

The cheap one is cheap. it might work... probably will in fact.
But it's die cast metal usually, smaller jaws, less surface contact area to pull on, tends to bend whatever you attached it to instead. The threads on the center shaft on those cheap ones tend to peen over as well when under any kind of pressure.
You can see when comparing, the jaws on the OTC tool are much beefier as well.

As far as I can tell, I'm leaking oil from the front crank seal, rear crank seal, and passenger valve cover gasket (again!!!).
Clean little engine??? Sure it doesn't leave a puddle on the ground because it burns or blows off in the wind.

It's a hell of a lot cleaner than my 4.0 or a lot of others but most modern engine with newer gaskets are. Even the original abused 3.7 engine wasn't abnormally dirty or oily, but then maybe all the gunk plunged those leaks.
What the hell caused all those deals to blow again?
The worst engine I've had for oil was any of the Toyota 7m family, if they weren't blowing head gaskets they pouring out oil. If you find any running 7m supra once you get it on a lift the bottom of the undercarriage is semi preserved in oil.

I had tried that same Tekton puller. I've had one for years for other things and thought it would work. It did not. Wouldn't stay put and like Conundrum2006 said the bolt wasn't long enough. The OTC was perfect. Wish you were closer you could use mine.

The difference is the 1 I listed is designed by Chrysler to pull there crank pulley's off without damaging the pulley of the crank.
