I cut about 3/4 of an inch above the bottom of the bumper.

the white things he is refering to ARE the "rivets". It really is pretty easy. If itll give u better peice of mind, u can use a flathead screw driver to help dislodge the clips the retain the air dam in place once the rivets are off. this not only makes it a lil bit easier, you will be much less likely to damage anything if your really worried about it
