flat hoods?

Other than the 2005-2006 Renegade and the 2005 Rocky mountain Edition are there any other KJs with flat hoods? The reason I ask is that a co-worker has this 2007 Liberty with a flat hood. From behind I thought it was just a Limited (it has no trim-level badges at all) until I saw the hood

There was a Rocky Mountain edition for 06....maybe it was a left over and retitled?
Pretty sure the Latitude's didn't have flat hoods.

No Rocky Mountain for '06. You're right, just the 65th anniversary edition. The ONLY KJs with a flat hood were '05 and '06 Renegades, and the '05 Rocky Mountain edition.

Did he buy the Jeep used? The dealership may have installed the flat hood and grille (and grille/radiator supports) to satisfy the original customer. I've seen a blue Renegade driving around this area with the curved hood, just so the woman can have a chrome grille. (That's what she told me)

no he bought it used, I guess it could have also been wrecked and the flat hood front end installed instead of the original ones.

That's another reason... I have personal experience with my situation. Some dealerships will bend over backwards just to get a sale.

Hm...I've seen flat hood'ers with chrome grilles...

Anyway...if you can ask him in a nice way if it was ever wrecked... :shrug:

I have too, but apparently the dealership she went to couldn't get them so this is what they did.

aside from requesting a build sheet (which I won't do because it will change the ownership of the Jeep in Jeep's database to me) I don't think the VIN would help in this case because OFFICIALLY there are only 3 trim levels of the Liberty (Sport, Limited Edition and Renegade) The other 'special editions' are actually just equipment or appearance packages) i.e. The Freedom, Colombia, 65th Anniversary and Lattitude are all VIN'ed as Sports, and the Rocky Mountain Edition is VIN'ed as a Renegade.

I noticed that.. what is it VIN'ed as in 2004... Sport??


EDIT: after entering a 2004 RM VIN into Carfax it is indeed VIN'ed as a Sport
