Just bought a 2006 Lib and don't know too much about the radio yet. There is a "mode" button on the left that allows me to switch between AM/FM when I press on the lower part, when I press on the upper part, it displays SAT on the radio. There appears to be a Satellite antenna mounted on the roof right above the rear window. It's black 2x3" almost flat thing with a fat raised ridge in the middle. Does this mean I have a Sat radio? Do I just order up the service and I'm good to go? How does the Sat company know to "turn on" my service? Is there a serial number I would have to give them? Where would I get that?

Also, I thought I read a post a while back stating that I could hook a cable up to the back of this radio to provide an AUX port for an iPod? Is that true?

Thanks, all.

There is a port on the back to connect an ipod with the appropriate adapter, i just bought an interface to go in my 03', waiting for it to arrive is killing me.. lol

However, if your sat receiver is in there it will use that aux input on the back of the radio so you have to be careful what interface you buy if you want to retain use of the sat receiver. Some of them allow passthrough of the factory cd changer or sat receiver, and some of them require disconnecting them completely.

If it was me in your position, i would just get an ipod interface and forget about the sat receiver, the cost of the service to me isn't worth it unless your living in your KJ on a daily basis, and even then i have over 1,000 songs on my ipod so why bother.

So you're saying that the Satellite receiver is not built in to the radio itself? Is the "mode" button just another name for AUX? If there is a satellite receiver where would it be? Where do I get an Ipod interface? Does it connect to the headphone jack of the ipod or the big port on the bottom? I will probably not get Sat service even if I have the receiver (like you said, "not worth it"), but if they offered it to me for free for a few months, I might try it.
Thanks.

that is how to remove the stereo. i bought an ipod interface from crutchfield.com and all i had to do was plug in the interface cord to the cd changer port on the back of my stereo, then i fished it through to the right of the stereo over to the glove box, you will need to open the glove box all the way by pinching in the two sides and push in just a hair and then pull it out. it should just hang there. then you plug the interface cord into the adapter and hide the adapter back in there somewhere(i think i shoved mine to the back right of that cubby space behind the glove box). then just close the glove box and make sure its not crimping your ipod wire. then plug your ipod in and hid it in the glove box.

I got an Ipod2Car interface off eBay for $60, same one goes for about $150 online so i got a deal on that, look around on ebay, search for chrysler ipod or jeep ipod and you will see a bunch of interfaces. Just read the description and make sure you get the right one for your radio type.

The sat receiver is a seperate box from that i read, it sits in the dash behind the radio and plugs into the aux input on the back of the radio.

You will see a lot of the interfaces say they don't work with the sat radios, but some will say they work if you loose the sat ability by unplugging it. So you have to dig around to find the right one.

Do you have the RBQ radio (it should say on the front of your radio)? If you do, there aren't many options for hooking up an iPod. I have searched high and low and the only option I have found is the Mopar iPod Integration kit.

As far as the Sat radio goes, your radio came with a Sat radio key. You contact Sirius, give them that code, pick how many months/years you want and pay. Someone graciously taped my radio code onto my owners manual.

Where do you find that three letter radio code??? AKA RBQ etc??

I see all the auctions say it works with this radio or that and to check the front corner of the radio. I sat there for like a half hour looking at my radio, every inch of it, even pulled the trim and looked around the sides of the radio behind it, still no three letter radio code.

Where is it???

If you can't get anything else i got a nice Griffin Roadtrip i could sell you, best FM Modulator i ever used with my Ipod.

Here is what i see for a disclaimer on just about every Ipod interface on eBay for the Liberty..

CONNECTS TO FACTORY 10-PIN CONNECTOR AT HEADUNIT. NOT COMPATIBLE IF EQUIPPED WITH FACTORY SATELLITE OR EXTERNAL CD CHANGER- must be disconnected to install ipod interface. NOT COMPATIBLE WITH RBQ (SIX DISC-IN-DASH), RB4 (NAVIGATION), RAH AND REV RADIOS.

Pulled the radio out today just to take a look-see. There was something plugged into the smaller square plug in the back. The wire just seemed to go back further into the black hole and I couldn't trace it to anything. I left it unplugged and turned the radio back on, this time when I pressed MODE, nothing happened (it used to dispaly SAT on the radio). So there must be a Satellite receiver somewhere in the vehicle, right? Took out the glove box, nothing behind there. There is nothing mounted under the seats. There is nothing in the back end of the Jeep. Where else would someone have put it? How big is it? What does it look like? Would it be back under the antenna? Would it be built into the radio receiver? It looks like a standard receiver (single CD, not a six-shooter). I'm stumped.

Yes, I did. I also stated that fact here. I didn't get a whole bunch of answers there, so I posted here, too. Is that verboten?

They are on the front of the HU.

I found a few that say it works with the RBQ, but then it says that it will not work with the factory in-dash CD changer. Which the RBQ has. I was really close to buying one off Crutchfield until I got right to the end when it said it doesn't work with factory in-dash CD changer.

I think the wire you were looking for goes to the Satellite Radio antenna or the SR module.

If you don't have a in-dash CD changer, then you are in luck for an i-Pod hook up. The USA-spec iPod interface from Crutchfield should work on your radio. I believe it will plug into the place where your Satellite radio was plugged and when you hit MODE, it will switch to the interface.

I found the satellite receiver. It's mounted above the right rear wheel where the CD changer would go, but there is no cut-out in the plastic molding. I followed the wire from the sat antenna to find it. I also found online that you can press EJECT and TIME on the radio (while radio is off and key at accessory) to get the satellite serial number. Hold those 2 buttons for about 4 seconds and the first 4 digits will display, press seek+ to get the next four, press seek+ again to get the final four. Now does anybody know how to get free satellite service? Do they offer a free 30 days or so?

And Powerslave, I know this is a double post. Try and deal with it.
