Hi I have a 2012 Liberty, Engine light keeps coming on I brought it to mechanic it said gas leak so I changed gas cap 100 miles later came on again, so now I disconnect negative battery cable and light stays off for 100 miles, how can I find cause and then repair problem thanks

Hi pattyp. To help we will need to know the code it is throwing. This can be found with a code reader and most autoparts stores do it for free if the mechanic didn't provide it to you.

Hi there. You can do the key dance and let us know the code. Just turn the key in less than 10 seconds from to on position (not to start the car but one before) fast for 3 times. Then check your screen. Will write a code and then done.

i have a 07 jeep liberty and it throws the check engine light just about everytime i gas up with it runnig

You are probably getting a code for loose gas cap. Just a wild guess...

There are many potential leak areas, major or minor EVAP Leak?
What exactly is the code number, we definitely need to know.
Only a dealer cap with a decent seal (not aftermarket) should be used.
