About a month and a half back I tried to start my CRD after letting it sit for a couple of days. By the way my driveway is a hill. I turned the key to the run position and waited for the light to turn off and tried to start it. Nothing! So then I put in neutral and roll it back down the driveway and than tried to start it. Still nothing. I had it towed to the dealership and they replaced some cam indicator sensor. A couple of weeks Same thing left the jeep sitting for a weekend and same problem. This time I went to the dealership to ask how I can get it started on my own. The tech doesn't know why the fuel isn't being pumped into the engine when I start it. I am still waiting to here back about it.

Just wanted to see if anyones heard of this issue before.

So is it cranking or is it just dead? yes, it must have some sort of pump to get the Diesel to the engine... They are high pressure pumps also since it injects the diesel when its under compression. O:)

When I had it towed to the dealership, They told me that there was air in the fuel line and I would have to prime the pump by hand and bleed the air myself.

There was nothing wrong with the pumps, just from sitting for awhile the fuel bleed back to the tank creating a air pocket in the fuel line and causing it not to start. You may have a bad gasket or o-ring in the fuel filter housing causing the drain back.

There is no pump in the tank on the liberty CRD, and there is a check valve in the filter assembly to prevent fuel from flowing back to the tank, of course if you have a leak somewhere behind that valve this can happen, but is still should have started and ran for a bit just on the fuel ahead of the check valve.

There have been a few people that have leaks in their filter assemblies and some speculate leaks in the fuel lines as well. If it does this again try bleeding the fuel filter. Pump the primer button just till it gets hard but no more then open the bleeder valve (helps to put a clear hose on the nipple first) on the filter to let any air out, then close the valve, do this till nothing but fuel comes out. Just like bleeding brakes.

If it is air in the system the next thing is to find out where its coming from, pump the primer and then pull the electrical connectors on the filter head loose...look for leaking fuel and listen for air escaping.
