Clutch :-(

Just took my wife's Renagade out to fill it up with diesel, 4th gear foot down and the rev counter shoots up but the speed doesn't change, looks like I'll be doing a clutch shortly.

Probably, but you are telling us that it does not slip in 2nd or 3rd gears with foot on floor??? Since you were driving it, your wife will tell you YOU broke it.

No slip in the lower gears, but make it pull hard it slips when the torque kicks in.
For a little engine its surprisingly powerful.
