Maybe some 600 grit and light to moderate pressure while wet sanding the whole wheel to knock the shine off the finish(Even If the Factory Finish is either Semi-Gloss of Matt Finish.) so too scuff the factory paint so the new finish you are applying has better adhesion and ends up giving you a better overall result.
If you're bored, you could always let the first coat of clear harden and then pollish it ultra smooth with 600, then 800, then 1200 grit.
Then one easy additional clear coat to shine it.
Gives a really wicked deep shine and looks cool, but considerate time and effort to maintain!
