I did mine in a sonic cleaner because I have one in our shop and ALOT of stuff came out it...I mean alot. Did not try just cleaning it with carb cleaner but its probably not a bad idea to have it sonic cleaned. Most good motorcycle shops or small engine shops have one. Even after I took it out and hit with it hot water to get the cleaner washed off another big chunk of black crude came out.

what solution did you use in the ultrasonic cleaner? degreaser? I might consider doing this. Any comments on the process?

Btw is a new TB gasket required for reinstallation?

My Jeep got an emission service (injector cleaner) and TB removal/ clean by dealer.
I have not had to take mine off since, and kept it clean by spray TB cleaner into bore, without removal so far. (touch wood)
The bottom gasket is the only one that should be on hand as far as I know.

We got our machine from Sharpertek and we use thier soulution. Its called Shellac Buster, and its expensive. I just bought some and its like $170 for 5 gallons. You can get it in smaller amounts. Our shop will use five gallons a year. Its an O-Ring, I just resused mine.
