So I was driving home and was stopping at a stop light when all of the sudden a nasty nasty grinding noise started coming from the front right area of my jeep. I assumed my pads were just getting a little low, because I haven't changed them in a while, and ignored the noise the rest of the drive home. When I did get home I took a closer look at the wheel and noticed that the caliper was at a pretty extreme angle. basically one end of it was almost entirely off the rotor. So I jacked it up and pulled the wheel off and to my amazement found out that the caliper was only holding on to the hub by one bolt... the other one must have fallen off when I was driving. My suspicion is that napa doesn't sell calipers with the bolts, but I will check tomorrow. Does anyone know if I can pick up just the bolt somewhere? either online or at a store?

Most major auto parts stores carry them. Let me know if you want the OEM p/n.

I had a bolt come out of the brake caliper adapter plate on my 2001 Ford Taurus once. The exciter ring on the CV shaft wore half way through the head of the bolt. I'm lucky the bolt head didn't jam against it. I was traveling 75mph on the interstate when the ABS light came on. It wouldn't have been pretty.

Thanks guys.

04Liberty: Can I have the p/n? thanks.

I went to advance auto parts (1st mistake) without bringing in the other caliper bolt that didn't fall off (2nd mistake) and the idiots sold me the wrong part (result of previous 2 mistakes) bs1.gif. I might just buy it online if I can find it.
