hello, I tried shifting my jeep out of 4 wheel lo today and it was kinda stiff and like a ******** I forced it and it went slack. I took the boot off the shifter and the bushing and rod had come out of the shifter.

I cant seem to get it back in and was wondering Is there a special way of doing this? also did I just screw up the cable and will need a new one? i was wondering if anyone could tell me what its supposed to look like cause mine is hook shaped and it seems to have a slight twist to it at the end where the bushing is.

transfer case shifter assembly photo

kinda mutilated the side of the assembly trying to re-attach it.

same thing happened to me last week. There is a little plastic/nylon part that goes into the end of the cable and onto the post. ( make sure you put in the cable first) I had to get one direct from Dodge dealer. Part number I use was 68064273AB price was 2.45 each I bought two just because. I was asked the vin number when I went in due to different ****** and transfer cases used for the 06. Hope this helps
