Just wondering about this.

I just picked up my '05 KJ limited a few days ago. On the way back from the dealer (about 35 miles), I got just over 20mpg mostly highway (60 - 70 mph). I was pleasantly surprised since it is brand new (although I realized I probably should have gone slower since it's the "break-in" period).

Now over the past couple days I am doing 15 - 18 at best. Granted, less highway but still some.

Did you all notice an improvement after break-in and how long did it take? I didn't buy this vehicle for mileage reasons but I am hoping for the advertised 17-22. I do not have a lead foot either......

I didn't notice any changes in MPG after break-in. I average 18 with mixed conditions, and 22 on interstate. I have seen 24 once! Not to bad for a brick, lol!

If you are seeing 15, you are having too much fun. I saw 14 once in four-wheel drive with 8 inches of snow! wrc.gif

I'm getting around 16 mpg all city driving and I have around 2750 miles on my 05'

I wouldn't expect too much more out of it...My advice for best gas mileage is to keep it under 2k rpms when taking off from stop signs. I know its hard to do sometimes but it works for me. Most likely you won't get the advertised 17-22 since those are EPA "ideal conditions". When I first got my KJ back in march I was seeing around 15mpg all city. Can't expect much for a brick. I love my KJ though \:D/

Check your gas mileage the "old fashioned" way divide miles traveled by gallons used. I have never found those trip computer/MPG calculators accurate. Mine is off usually 2-3mpg on the display versus the hand calculation. Just FYI
