it has been done before, however you are on your own when it comes to trimming the bumper. Just go slow, cut in small amounts and it should be all good.

Winches are more or less universal.
ThunderbirdJunkie wouldn't put less than an 8,000 lb winch on a KJ. They're porky.

He's got a Warn XD9000 for his KJ (nothing to bolt it to...yet...), and Jim in the picture is running a Superwinch 10,000 lb something or other on his backbone. Basically, the bigger the better.

nice deal on the wInch..

ill have to hold off and see if i can find a good deal when i get that far. I have a real hard time justifying to myself that kind of money for an item ill rarely if ever use.. the backbone for the improved tow points is almost a no brainer due to snow and flooding around here.

and until i get in with a group that offroads i dont see myself being able to find anyplace local where id need self recovery..

honestly even the arb woudl be 90% cosmetic.

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
You can get great deals on winches from winchdepot.com,they usually have the WARN M8000 for $550 or so and either $10/free shipping.

I paid $1000 for my WARN 9500XP,don't use it all that much but when I need it the $1000 was well worth it.

If you order that call and ask for Chris. He has always taken good care of me.

honestly even the arb would be 90% cosmetic.

But.... 100% the envy of others.:D

I don't know what you might have wandering the roads at night in Ft, Whatever but around here, the ARB might just save my ass. Depending on the season, we get moose, black bear, lots of deer, coyotes and other vermin. They see traffic alot and are sort of oblivious to it.

Oh, and the ARB has recovery points, jack points for the jack-all and a cool place to store the winch.

I agree with what TJKJ said about winches and what TBJ said about electrical bits. Why is the Warn M8000 so much more expensive than the Superwinch or Smittybuilt? I don't know but so far it has been money well spent.

well consider this Ft. Flatland urban.. except when it snows the ONLY offroading this jeep will see is when i finally go to the badlands..

My biggest hazard here is the occasional crackhead darting across the street.
