Another mystery part

I'm having the worst luck lately. Seems like this thing is nickel and dimming me weekly. 2006 Liberty Limited 68,000 miles. I replaced the switch in the rear tailgate door that actuates the rear window to open. I took off the large inside plastic shroud and re-installed it after I swapped out the switch. I found this part laying where I had the plastic shroud laying. Any ideas on this part?

Thing is, there is no reason a binder clip should be in our jeep. I talked to the wife and she said she didn't see any reason for it to be in there. That's why I'm questioning if it is a part to the rear tailgate or????

this part in not on the jeep diagram. probably in there for long for no reason. But pretty sure it's not part of the jeep.
