Was looking at an air compressor to air up my tires after my trips. Saw a few people with the Super Flow MV50 High Volume Compressor, and it seemed to work okay. What does everyone else have, looking for something on the cheaper side and easy to install. Thanks

I got one of those cheapy too, it rarely ever gets used, but when it comes time it serves it purpose!
something along the lines of this:

I carry an MV50 that hooks directly to the battery. I also carry a campbell Hausfield cordless. Both have been used many times. The MV50 is more powerful and faster. The other one I just use to top the tires off sometimes since it is cordless.

Dave I was looking at that one. How is the wiring to the battery? Have never hooked anything up to it. Easy, diagrams? If i buy the compressor, will I need anything else, like extra wiring?

It isn't wired to the battery it has clamps like jumper cables that attach to the battery terminals.

I like the MV50 compressor, it performs well.
I've hardwired mine to the battery for maximum current capacity. Also I took a useless 120vac 3 gal air compressor that I had and swapped out the compressors.

The MV50 shuts off at approx a hundred PSI (the pressure switch is in the air tank) and the 3 gal tank holds the pressure until I need it. The MV50 fuse holder has melted once. I need to stop sharing my compressor with everybody on the trail.

How low do you deflate the tires on your Libby Vranes17? Myself I never air down my tires. I need as much ground clearance as I can get. On my YJ I've aired down as low as five or six lbs. Even with the MV50 it takes a while to air back up to 22 lbs.

I air down to 20psi about. So far i have been trail riding with a TJ and KJ both with the MV50 and it has worked fine, even to fill up 2-3 rigs. Yes it gets hot but, it works.

20psi is not doing any good you should be going to 15

I use one of those red compressors for the air bags on my F250
I have a 90-120 pressure switch and a 3 gallon tank
takes a while to bring the tires from 50 to 80 psi but it does it

I dont even waste time with compressors out on the trail
there is only 1 that can compete with CO2 and they cost close to or over $1000
I use CO2 for several reasons
I got the bottles for free
I get them filled for little to nothing
they deliver about 30 cfm and a 5# bottle can air up 20+ 31X10.5 R15 tires
so well over 245/75 R16's ,less internal volume due to 16" rim and less width
even buying at retail you could get set up for about $200

I actually do 19 in front and 18 in back but i will go down to 15psi next time.

What did you use for a pressure cutoff switch?? I was thinking about this here too... I have a 2gal compressor with a gutless 120v compressor on it, and after seeing how cheap i can get a MV50, like $50-60, it would make a great overhaul for this tank.

Napa or a "heavy duty parts" store
tell them you need a 90 on 120 off pressure switch
these compressors draw some current so the switch will need to control
a relay
here is how I have mine set up

ignition switched power-> 12 on off switch-> pressure switch-> relay->
compressor then just ground the compressor
