Has anyone added steering wheel radio controls to a Liberty that did not come with them from the factory? If so, what's involved?

The '06 Sport we just bought doesn't have them, but my '03 does and we love them.

Okay. I did a little reading now that I've been pointed in the right direction. (Thanks)

It doesn't seem clear as to whether I would need a new clockspring or not.

I haven't taken anything apart yet, but is it possible all the wiring is there under the air bag and I just need to add the switches and dremel out the holes?

Keep in mind this is an '06 Sport with ESP.

If nobody knows, I suppose I'll just have to take it apart and look.

You may or you may not. When you pull the wheel, the plug on the clockspring has 6 pins all the way across. Mine was missing the left 2 (#'s 6 & 5, which transmit the stereo control), so I replaced the clockspring with a new one. Some people have modified the clockspring and added the pins, I won't screw with it because that's what your airbag connects to, it's just easier to put the correct one. See below.

The GC clockspring looks exactly like the Liberty's (at least 02-07).

Looks like I'll have to take it apart and see what's in there.

Unfortunately, it's going to have to wait until after Christmas.

With help of jeepjeepster, I was able to take the connectors apart.
