The jeep came with 225/75R16 tires stock. I wanted to buy a lift kit and was needing to buy new tires, but could not afford a good lift (OME). After much searching on this site I learned that a clevis lift could allow me to fit a larger tire, and that some people run 245/70's on stock jeeps with no lift. So I did the clevis lift and put on 245/70R16 hankook dynapro A/T tires. Nothing added to the rear. Only got minor rubbing on the front fenders near full lock, on the front of the fender, not enough to worry about. None on pinch weld. No rubbing in the rear. For those of you who don't know what a clevis lift is there are many postings to look at. Now I can run larger tires and all I had to pay for was an allignment, which after 70,000 miles since new I probably needed anyway. The larger tires cost a little more than a 225/75 or 235/70 (both stock sizes) but the ride and handling have improved and it 4wheels much better. 245/70's are only about a quarter to a half inch taller than stock (depending on tire brand) so the rear diff. didn't gain much ground clearance. However because of the clevis lift and the fact that its an IFS suspension, the front diff. did gain some ground clearance. 16,000 miles since lift and new tires, still no problems. A small lift and a way to run larger tires basically for free.

I run 245/70 16 General Grabber AT2s without a lift, have for about 20,000 miles without problems. I only get a slight rub when reversing at full lock like out of a tight parking space. Clevis is great way to get a small amount of lift but not necessary for a tire of this size.

I did the clevis about a half inch, and the tire still touches the front of the fender a little. No rubbing on pinch weld. I've seen other people with no lift and 245/70's, but without the lift on mine it would rub even more. Right? I have 86,000 and I tow things so it has sagged, how many miles on yours? Here are some more pics.

I just measured fender heights,
front 19.50
rear 18.75

I have just under 30k on the clock. I wheel a bit (mostly forest roads, fields, frozen lakes for hunting, camping, fishing purposes) and don't tow anything. No rubbing at all except for the situation described above.

Mine rubs in the same way, in reverse near full lock. I would imagine because your suspension is so new if you did a clevis lift it might eliminate your rubbing altogether. Just a thought. Whats your fender height?

If you look at your front shock you have a Y shaped piece at the bottom ( between the shock and the lower control arm. That is the clevis, to do a clevis lift you loosen the bolt and slide the shock upwards 3/8 of an inch giving you 3/4 of an inch of lift ( everything you do doubles on the front )

The rake is for better fuel mileage for one thing

Sorry, I don't know how lifting you're jeep could effect the esp/abs. Hopefully someone will chime in soon.
