Hey guys, treefiddy here with another question about my problem child. I just started to notice a ratteling noise coming from my A/C and it only seems to happen when it's spinning and not even using A/C. It'll randomly kick on when Im not using A/C and it goes away when I accelerate. Now I did just recently put a newer motor in and the compressor is new as of July 2011 (no warrenty because i lost the papers) so I'm pretty shocked that I'm having problems. However the A/C does still work like there isn't a problem with it but I still hate the ratteling noise it makes. I want to know if I just need a recharge? Let me know what you think, all help is appreciated

I'm a Yooper.
Probably the tensioner. You can also disconnect ac to see if noise persists. Does it happen when in drive or reverse with brake applied? When you speed up it would put more tension on belts and when idling in gear would be less tension and would cause tensioner to rattle. Have buddy sit in the jeep on drive and hold brakes, put screw driver on the tensioner( not just the pulley but the centerpiece holding both pulley arms where it mounts to engine) and see if you feel larger vibration through screw driver there than if you put it else where. This will help isolate where the rattle is. 35-50 dollar part. Waaaay cheaper than ac. Let me know!
