Hey guys, I'm probably gonna get some steel rims and new tyres soon.

30x9.5x15 should be close enough to stock not to need to regear the diffs, right?
31x10.15x15 however seems to be on the cusp of NEEDING to regear, but it's advisable.

My question, then, is really how much effect will 31s REALLY have on drive-ability? would I notice a big loss in torque?

Edit: the other reason I'm considering the 31s is that the rims I'm looking at only come in 15x8, which is probably too wide for the 30s when aired down.
plus, I reeeeeally like how Ian's looked on 31s with 15x8 rims:

WEIGHT of the steel wheels over stock and type of tires affect the driveability almost as much as the size

Those look like soft 8's or atleast that style. which you can get in 15 x 7 for the reasons listed in 500 other threads.

Must mean non-stock steel rims. Because a lot of KJ and KA came with steel rims. I didn't find any stock steel rims for my KK so I got some from a KA( Nitro).

Thanks guys. I'm sure those are Soft 8s, but here in South Africa we have a little less selection. The only black steel 15" rims I've found here are 8" wide.

I knew they'd be heavier, but that much that they'd have a noticeable effect?
I was gonna go with these: M8060 Trepador

Maybe the 30s are a better bet then. That leaves the question of how a 30x9.5 tyre will work on an 8" rim. I know 7" would be preferable...
