hey everyone what's up!

Im new to this forum and dont know if this is the right section to post this in but any help or advise would be greatly appreciated

anyways, Here's my story...

A couple of days ago i was getting gas and when i was pulling out of the gas station some jerk off decides he wants to pull over right in front of the exit way and put his hazards on. instead of honking or causing any commotion i decide to pop a broken u-turn and take off. But heres where the problem began: i cut the wheel all the way to the right, pulled out front as far as i could, put my foot on the brakes and proceeded to cut the wheel the opposite way and put it in reverse (to give me enough space to pull away(btw this was on a slight hill). by accident instead of putting the car in reverse i ended up putting it in neutral while the wheels where still cut all the way not know it was in neutral, i hit the gas and realized the power steering was stiff as a rock and the car stalled out for a moment but started right back up(Power Steering still not working tho). from that point on and for the rest of the night the power steering was not working. When i finally got home i parked the car and called it a night. Next morning when i started the car the power steering was strangely working again. after driving it for about a hour or so everything was still working fine but then i had to pop another u turn and thats when it started all over again. I had the car taken to a mechanic that same day and they put fluid in saying it was low then they said it was air in the lines so bleed it and refilled ps fluid. only problem is, not even a couple of minutes after i left the shop the power steering gave out again. To make a long story short- its been a week now and my power steering is still having this weird issue. The guy at the shop said its the power steering pump but that doesnt make any sense to me. Why? because if it was indeed the pump then wouldnt the PS be shot and not work at all in the first place? I mean if something is broken then why would it work on and off(from broken to perfect and viceversa . There are times when the power steering feels better then ever before and literally seconds later stiff again. does any one know what the hell is going on? Its like a guessing game every time i make a turn not knowing if it will work or drive me into a parked car because it wont turn as expected! One thing that i did notice tho is that "on and off "when i am parked/ not moving and cut the wheel it is still stiff but when/while i hit the gas(still in park or neutral/not moving) the power steeering starts working again! im guessing it has something to do with the power being transferred to the ps but not really sure at this point. i have an appointment this coming week but feel as if it will be one of those situations where the mechanic will try to sell me on a pump or some crook shpeel when its some other underlying cause. PLEASE if you have any idea what is going on please drop in and enlighten me with your wisdom. Im stumpd! any help will do! Thanks in advance!

The new guy:pp:

If the power steering reservoir was low you got a leak somewhere/causing air to enter into system. It is not uncommon to have a power steering hose leak or at back of pump where lines connect into pump. Inspect thoroughly. Secondly you could have overheated the pump causing impeller damage, and you need to use ATF+4 in the power steering pump, certainly not power steering fluid, which also can/will damage impeller.
What would I do? Inspect and look for any sign of leaking...if no leaks found then immediately remove the fluid regardless of what fluid was used, by suctioning out the reservoir and use Lubegard power steering fluid like now. Try that. good luck.

Link to Lubegard, works as stated I use 32 oz universal as in photo.

thank you for the reply. I appreciate it.
I checked for leaks-NONE!

Whats mind boggling is the fact that now the power steering works 100% when i rev the engine a little(parked/stopped/not moving) and stops when i take my foot off the gas.

This just doesnt make any sense to me!

WTF is going on? arggg lol

Seems like it has to do with something alone the line of transferring power but why?

It doesnt have leak! I dont think its the pump although i could be wrong.

PLEAAASE GIVE ME SOME GUIDANCE!

THANKS AGAIN!!!!:wtf2:

Ps- is there any way of MAKING SURE the pump is failing IF thats what it truly is?

Calling your Jeep a car has insulted it. Sounds as if impeller might be slipping in the pulley or on the shaft.
