13k on your 02??
If the ball joints are factory.. I'd see if you have a ball joint recall available for your jeep. Take it in and see how much they want to replace the tie rod ends boots(if that's what you're referring to) while they're doing the ball joints.

Yes, I just picked it up about a month ago with only 11,000 miles. Carfax shows it was driven around 700 miles per year and it was regularly serviced. The frontend is tight as a drum, but the rubber boots are cracked and breaking down.

^^^This would be a good thing to check. If they replace your ball joints under recall it will come with new boots.

Well that's unfortunate.. recall for them on a lot of KJs, was hoping yours would fit the right category.
Im still confused as to if you're talking about the tie rod boots, ball joint boots, or both..
The tie rod boots sound be fairly straight forward to reach under and measure the diameters of both openings of the boots.. even with the tie rods and everything connected.. could even pull the wheels to make it easier.
As for the ball joint boots, I'm not 100 percent, but I'd imagine you'd have to get new ball joints if not greasable or rebuildable..
Hopefully this comes as some help, but if for some reason you're unable to measure the tie rods boots I can measure underneath the old girl in the driveway for you in the morning.

Maybe I'm weird, but I'm simply psyched enough to know there's an 02 out there with 13k.. she's not even broken in yet drive.gif

I'm looking to replace both tie rod end and ball joint boots with Energy Suspension polyurethane dust boots. I was just hoping someone had some used factory takeoff parts in their scrap pile to save me from crawling under or having to pull off a wheel.

Yes, I was happier than a pig in you know what to find this vehicle, especially since it was within driving distance. Every time I've said the mileage to anyone(having it inspected, registering it, having the airbag controller recall done, etc), they look up and ask me again and are in disbelief. It was a one owner, clean carfax vehicle with the originally issued title. Here's the eBay link. Pretty sure it can still be pulled up. Looks much better with the new tires and the running boards removed.

Congrats on a hell of a find! That's awesome!

Crawled under it this morning before going hunting, the tie rods boots are 8 inches long with 2 inch and 1 inch openings.
The ball joints appear to be 2 inches wide but not positive on these, I was unaware the boots on them were serviceable.
