My g/f's 06 Liberty has had this issue for a while now. When traveling over 70 mph, there is some sort of rattle from under or in the steering wheel area. Its hard to figure out since its not as if you can easily try and see where its coming from when traveling at a high speed like that. Any ideas?

Take the covers off the steering column and have a look for something loose there.
My guess would be something in the mechanism that locks the steering wheel at different angles or the SKIM module which is a plastic box on the column near the top..if you have SKIS fitted.

Could be the tumbler mechanism behind the ignition key or the multifunction switch which has all the stalks on it...turn/wipers etc.

Could also be the clockspring/airbag connectors or remote radio control/radio switches which sits under the steering boss.....disconnect battery before messing with the airbags!

Then it could be the small ball bearing at the top of the steering column or the larger one at the base of the column...these bearings are not sold seperate but you can get the correct sizes from bearing dealers.
